To help with the morning rush, students may now be dropped off at 8:25am. Students who arrive prior to 8:25am will be outside unsupervised.
Students who arrive between 8:25 and 8:35 will wait in the media center. This will be a peaceful time for them to read. Students will move to classrooms when they hear the first bell ring at 8:35am.
Cars should travel around the outside of the parking lot until they reach the drop-off area (along the new entrance). In the morning, the drop-off area is reduced to one lane so students are not crossing in front of other moving vehicles.
Kiss your child, organize and prepare for the DROP-OFF before you enter this area.
Please pull all the way forward before letting students out of the vehicle.
Families that choose to walk their child(ren) to the DROP-OFF entrance must park their vehicles in a designated parking space and use the crosswalk closest to the front of the building. It is EXTREMELY dangerous to cross between cars.
Due to the limited sightlines and the speed of traffic, it is too dangerous to cross Leffingwell for adults and children.
PLEASE attempt to turn right only onto Leffingwell. Turning left creates a backup that delays the process. Thank you!
AFTERNOON STUDENT PICK-UP
Students who get picked up after school will exit the school through our main entrance and wait in a reserved area, under the new canopy. OV staff will be present to supervise/assist students.
Cars should enter the south parking lot from Leffingwell, keep to the right, and travel around the outside of the parking lot using the two designated lanes. These two lanes start right when you enter the parking lot.
To help with congestion, in the afternoon only, we will open three lanes of traffic - parallel to the entrance of the building. The third lane starts as you make the curve approaching the building.
Please pull all the way forward until you reach the spot indicated to stop.
When all cars are stopped, staff will instruct students to load into their vehicles. For safety reasons, we will ONLY fill vehicles up to the curve where the three lanes begin.
When all vehicles are loaded, the lanes will be dismissed alternately to exit the lot. Please do not switch lanes. Cars are encouraged to turn right as they exit to help keep the traffic flowing.
If you are in the pick up line, please do not leave your vehicle to call your child to your car. It is important to wait until you are within the three-lane area for safe pick up.
It is most efficient and safe when families follow these procedures and stay in their vehicles.
